I'm Phil Goetz, and I used to say that I was an artificial intelligence researcher. I did focus on artificial intelligence in grad school, and did a few years of real-world work that I can claim to be AI, including teaching AI and Prolog, writing behavior-based programs for interactive penguins, working on a control system for a fire-watching UAV, and developing an infrastructure for cognitive architectures for DARPA. However, I have also broken codes, developed a network intrusion detection system, designed and built large distributed simulations, analyzed national air traffic patterns, written algorithms and visualizers for 3D ultrawideband penetrating radar, and, most recently, examined patent applications in the area of 3D computer graphics. So really I'm a contract whore. This fall I took some biotechnology lab courses at NIH, and hope to move into bioinformatics, since AI is, apart from a few brave efforts like Novamente, dead. I have a livejournal, username shagbark. If you live near Washington DC, email me!
