AGI Theory Development Projects The following is a list of projects currently focused on theoretical development related to Artificial General Intelligence. Another list of groups working on AGI System-Building Projects is found here. Note that most of the system-building projects are also intensively involved with theory; and many theory-focused groups are planning on creating systems once their theory gets to a certain point. Non-Profit(2): Total: 2 Non-Profit   ----IDSIA: Marcus Hutter's AIXItl My current research is centered around artificial intelligence, machine (reinforcement) learning, information theory and statistics, algorithmic information theory, Kolmogorov complexity, minimal description length (MDL) principle, Bayesian/robust/expert/MDL/online/sequence prediction, computational complexity theory, universal Solomonoff induction, universal Levin search, sequential decision theory, and adaptive control theory.   Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Founding Director, Eliezer Yudkowsky) SIAI Mission: Ensure the safe realization of general-purpose AI. SIAI Summary: SIAI was founded for the pursuit of ethically enhanced cognition by creating beneficial AI. We expect the ethical and significant enhancement of cognition will help solve contemporary challenges - disease and illness, poverty and hunger - more readily than other charitable pursuits. |
