A "cognitive structure," as intended here, is a persistent, significant class of Patterns of organization of Knowledge Components.

Structure and Process

Note that a "structure," as considered here, may be a temporally localized pattern or else a pattern extended over time. So, for example, a Cognitive Process is a specific kind of cognitive structure, which is a pattern that is specifically dynamical in nature. Many of the most interesting cognitive structures are subcategories of Cognitive Process.
