" Control is the operation mode of a control system which includes two subsystems: controlling (a controller) C, and controlled, S. They interact, but there is a difference between the action of C on S, and the action of S on C. The controller C may change the state of the controlled system S in any way, including the destruction of S. The action of S on C is formation of a perception of system S in the controller C.

Control in AGI Systems

AGI Systems may contain multiple control subsystems. They may also contain many subsystems that interact in more complex ways, not well described using the concept of control.

Control Subsystems in the Novamente Cognition Engine

In Novamente, control systems include:

  • a subsystem controlling execution of procedures
  • a subsystem controlling which goals are currently allowed to nominate procedures for execution
  • a subsystem controlling the updating of various system control procedures
  • a subsystem for automated parameter adaptation

Note that this captures only a small percentage of the total activity going on within Novamente.
