Language Learning and AGI
Learning human language is among the hardest tasks an AGI System faces, because after all human language is specialized for humans. The right strategy for getting AGI's to understand language is controversial. Approaches include:
- injecting logical knowledge about language into an AGI's knowledge base
- teaching an AGI language via pure conversation
- having an AGI learn language via analysis of text
- teaching an AGI language via its embodiment in a simulated or physical robot
- teaching an AGI one of the Constructed Languages as a means of giving it enough knowledge of Semantics and Pragmatics that it can then learn the Syntax of natural language
- various combinations of the above
