Reflective Stage
From AGIRI.org
Also called the Post-Formal Stage, this is the stage of development of a Mind that is characterized by thorough reflection on, and modification, of internal structures, based on both formal and intuitive modeling thereof.
It is controversial whether or not any humans have truly mastered the the reflexive stage. Followers of various meditative and pedagogical practices claim Reflexive stage abilities, but such claims are not as yet considered verified.
In an AGI context, this corresponds roughly to the powerful capability for self-modification of internal software structures and cognitive dynamics. But it does not necessarily entail full Strong Self-Modification
Relationship to Uncertain Logic
In the theory of Developmental Stages of Uncertain Logic Based AI Systems, the Reflective stage may be characterized as a stage where the logical inference faculty possesses the capability to update its own logical inference rules and formulas, and modify its high-level inference control procedures, in a context-appropriate way. I.e. the Inference Control subsystem, and the mind as a whole, become Reflectively Interactive Systems.
