States of Consciousness

Subjective consciousness comes in many different varieties, as all of us know.

Modern science has not paid much attention to ontologizing these states; Buddhist psychology, for example, did a far more thorough job. Among modern thinkers, Charles Tart has perhaps explored this domain most effectively:

Whether an AGI will experience (even roughly) the same states of consciousness as a human remains definitively unknown.
