Ben Goertzel has stated that:
General intelligence is the ability to solve a variety of complex problems in a variety of complex environments.

At this point in time, humans have general intelligence and computers do not.

Pei Wang states that:
"Intelligence" is defined as the capacity to adapt under insufficient knowledge and resources. Concretely, an intelligent system should be finite and open, and should work in real time. (Pei Wang Papers)

As a counter example, IBM's chess playing computer Deep Blue is not an AGI because it specializes in one narrow domain with no innate ability to solve other types of problems.
